OT - Squishy Merlin's update on civies

It's been one week since I brought home a new kitten and both she and Leroy are getting along well dancing_cat They're still chasing each other around and play wrestling. Leroy likes to play with Toaster Strudel's fluffy tail and gets a couple whacks for doing so :lol: Toaster Strudel likes naptime and gets annoyed when Leroy tries to wake her up. Leroy has no off button because he's an Aby :shock: Toaster Strudel isn't as affectionate and snuggly as Leroy. Wheras Leroy will snuggle on my lap while I'm on the computer and has to get involved with whatever I'm doing, Toaster Strudel is pretty aloof. She'll watch from a distance and only wants attention on her terms.

Leroy has been with me 3 months now and he's already been to the ER twice :shock: Such an expensive troublemaker :? First time he burned a paw by walking across the hot flat top glass stove :shock: Three days ago he licked cleaner residue off the bathroom floor (I thought I rinsed well enough with water but guess not) and threw up and vomited :shock: The cleaner wasn't as toxic as some other brands, which I guess is a good thing. ER gave him fluids and meds. Last night Leroy was feeling better enough to eat half a raw nugget with some canned and not throw up afterwards. He still has stinky diarrhea (and a very stinky butt too :shock and meatloafs staring off into space. His tummy must still hurt :sad: Leroy is going to the vet today for pre-neuter bloodwork so I'll talk to the vet about the tummy issues.

Toaster Strudel (still thinking of a better name for her) is slowly eating NV raw :thumbup I've been sneaking small amounts into her canned food

She likes beef better than chicken or lamb. Hopefully I can get her eating only raw soon so I don't have to feed two different diets. Toaster Strudel has discovered Scooter the gerbil :shock: She will sit on top of the tank and watch Scooter or smush herself between the tank and the wall and tap at the side of the tank. Leroy hasn't even figured out how to get near the tank :roll: Girls must be smarter than boys :lol:

At the top of the dresser is Squishy Merlin's special spot. He keeps watch over Leroy and Toaster Strudel and Scooter the gerbil.

Awwww!!!!! After watching the video of how wired Leroy is I can see why Merlin is relieved to have another kitten keeping Leroy occupied. Wow.

The pattycake on the video was the cutest!!!! Made me laugh and smile. I'm glad they are getting along so well. Great update.

I was able to talk to Dr. B in between his regular appts (just had a tech appt for Leroy). He shook his head laughing when I told him Leroy had been at the ER a few days ago. He knows the sorts of trouble my pets tend to get in. I asked him about the diarrhea and painful tummy and not eating much. He said to feed Leroy boiled chicken and add in a half spoonful of Metamucil. The tummy should feel better in a few days. He was right: Leroy had a very good appetite for dinner :smile: He didn't noticed the Benefiber (store didn't have unflavored Metamucil) I mixed in.

I bought a Drinkwell fountain for them today. After the initial inspection of the fountain, both are now ignoring it :roll: Toaster Strudel still prefers to lick water out of the turned off faucets and drink out of the water bowl. The fountain sounds like a fish tank air pump. It's not too bothersome, though.

I love watching the videos, and I think Toaster Strudel is a good addition to your little family. I do think she'd be happier with a shorter name. :razz:

And odd. Right now they're both siting on my counter stools, one cat on each stool :? Not sure what they're doing other than just sitting in the dark with the water fountain humming away :razz:

Toaster Strudel threw up some foamy liquid a little while ago :shock: I think it was supposed to be a hairball. She spends a lot of time grooming her medium long fur.

Both cats slept on the bed with me last night That was a first cat_pet_icon Leroy has always slept on the bed with me, after spending his first week contained the bathroom. Toaster Strudel had preferred sleeping on the entryway rug or on the cushion I bought for Leroy but he never uses. Guess last night's freezing temperatures had Toaster Strudel on the bed keeping warm :smile: She was on one side of the bed using my legs as a pillow and Leroy was on the other side. Fortunately neither cat decided to play wrestle on top of me during the night :razz:

It took Gizmo a while to join Gabby and I in bed. He's still pretty active and comes and goes throughout the night but he's learning about cuddling. Beautiful kitties and it sounds like they're keeping you smiling.

Currently two civies and one very elderly gerbil.

Where did you get your Aby?

From a breeder in CA. She had someone transport the Aby cross-country to me. Squishy Merlin had arranged for the Aby to arrive on his 1 year GA anniversary ;-)

Ooooooohhhh! Okay, now I get it. Squishy Merlin is cute. I had an orange tabby too (Calvin)- he looked similar to your guy but no nose freckles.

I just have to tell you that I think Leroy is incredibly beautiful. OMG. Just gorgeous. His face is precious. I think my Merlin would love to play with him!
