Hi Everyone!:) It's hard to believe it's been a year since I brought my Shira and Ivy home from the SPCA, and a year and a few weeks since I said good bye to my sweet Chyna:(. I still miss her very much, and have trouble looking at her pictures without tearing up. But I do have two sweet girls who have made a home in my heart too.

I posted some new pictures to the picasa album, the last 14 are "new". I'll try to shrink one or two to add to my post...I seem to have hundreds  but that's too much work to post! Some of you on my facebook may have seen some of them. You can see here:

Ivy (tuxedo) is soft as butter. She had an ear infection a few months ago, that she was "ear dropped" for (to her disgust) and it's all cleared up. I thought she may have asthma since she wheezed and coughed sometimes and couldn't purr without swallowing, but the vet listened to her chest and figured it was allergies, so she (and Shira for the most part) are on a one protein diet to see. WC Rabbit right now. So far only the occassional cough so I hope it was the food and not airborne, or asthma after all! She purrs a quiet little motor now and plays with her sister like a good girl:joyful:.

Shira (torti) is just as playful as ever:smuggrin:. She will attack anything, anytime, from a dust particle to an Ivy cat! She does get black dried eye goobers but the vet didn't think it was worrisome. Maybe she doesn't wash her face as well? and I've never had a cat with light around eye coloring. She seems to have an allergy to beef and is fine otherwise. She is soft too, and loudly purrs on contact with you, or even when you just talk to her.

Neither of them are cuddly (unless sleepy haha), but I think they have resigned themselves to the fact that their bean WILL pick them up and kiss them anyways:facepalm:. They like to be nearby me, and have filled out a bit since I got them, and are on a good all wet (and incidently, low carb) diet. They do bath each other and look altogether adorable.

I sold my house and bought/moved to my new one in December. Yet again like when I brought them home, the girls surprised me by not hiding, but racing up and down the hall around all the boxes the minute I let them out of the carriers in the new place. They seem to like that they have much more room to run. And I like not having a tenant! Now that the mortgage is settled I'm finally trying to get away from my current TBP and find a new one that I don't have to call that:p. Slow going, with the oil price drop and less available, but I'll keep trying!

I miss you all and need to try post more. I can't get signed on to FDMB at work anymore, so I can read but not post:(. I keep you all in my thoughts and prayers. It was a steep learning curve, but so worth it. I am ever grateful to all the wonderful support I received in getting Chyna regulated, then OTJ, then help when she came back from the falls and then in my grieving loss. So thanks again!:joyful: I'm happy to see so many new faces learning how to help their babies. Hugs to you all!:bighug::bighug:

They are adorable but then I'm partial to black and white(Max of course) and torties (Tiffany). Must be nice to have cats that don't hide. Do stop by more often.

Hi Rachael,
I've been admiring that photo of Chyna for days. She looks very like a cat I had years ago called Ming who was a Burmese torte. Ming was probably a bit lighter in general colour but had the same markings and the same little face. Was Chyna a Burmese? I am sure you miss her. She looks such a sweety.
The photos of Shiraz and Ivy are lovely. Best wishes
Bron

So wonderful to see your post, hear how you're doing and how your girls are doing!!
Shira and Ivy are beautiful!
They look so happy and comfortable. :)
I think it was a great idea that you adopted two together.
They look so snuggly and super cute sharing a bed.

Thinking of you and sweet Chyna.
It's hard to believe it's been a year already.

Hi Rachel,
What beautiful kitties! So nice to hear that they are doing well, despite allergies. Perhaps try Standard Process Allerplex? Rusty was on it for over a year and I thought it helped his congestion, but he is now refusing to take it. Marje recommends it. You can get it on Amazon. I opened the capsule and mixed the powder into baby food. It's worth a try and won't harm.

Chyna is certainly watching over you and your kitties.

Hugs, scritches,

Ella & Rusty

Thanks everyone! I guess I should clarify, they do like scritches and petting, just not being smooshed:p. I'm really glad I got two, it's been a whole new experience and it was different than when I got one (Chyna) so less comparing. And we're in a new place with no Chyna memories, which makes it a little easier to not "see" her everywhere...but makes it sad at the same time to leave my old house where she was so easy to "see". I hope that all of the GAs are having fun together at rainbow bridge, there are too many names missing that I so loved to see and read about, hugs to all who are missing their kitty:bighug:.

-missMeows, thank you, your sweetie is very beautiful too:)
-Elise, thanks! yes I am partial to tortis for sure, and I do have a soft spot for tuxedos now too;)
-Bron, it's nice to "meet" you! Thanks for your kind words:). I'm not sure what Chyna may have been as she was an SPCA adoption, all I know is she was a medium haired torti and I miss her very much:)
-Mariko, it's so nice to see you!:bighug:. I'm glad I got two as well, they are good company for each other. And for me! I can't believe it's been a year either.
-Hi Ella, thank you! I do have Allerplex but haven't tried it continually yet. Her congestion seems to be mostly gone with the food change but I will definitely try it next if the fuds test doesn't work:).
-(((Josie))) it seems like forever ago, and it seems to go by fast too...thanks, I think they are beautiful too:cat:
-Thanks Julie, it seems to have flown and yet not! It's nice to have a condo to chat back with everyone again.

I miss having a condo...I can post to say hi but no one can chat back and forth. But I don't want a condo for these girls of course except as an update:p.

Hi Rachel - thank you so much for the update and pics. It's really hard to believe it's been a year, but it looks like a lot of good has happened to you in that last year. :bighug: Your girls look adorable. Keep practicing the smooshing - they'll get better with it. :)

Rachel...has it really been a year? Sure doesn't seem like we've been here that long...but in some ways it feels like we've been here forever (I'm sure you understand what I mean)

Your two new babies are just adorable...and I'm sure they add a lot of life and love to your new home too!

Good luck with the job hunting too. It's always a lot easier to go to work if it's someplace you (sort of) enjoy

Hope you can find a little time to visit here more often and let us know how your new girls are doing and we're always happy to see new pictures!!

Rachel! It's lovely to hear from you and to find out how your girls have settled in. It doesn't seem possible that it's been a year already. Please do stop by when you have time. We love hearing from old friends.

Good luck with the job hunting. I just know you'll find the perfect situation. Sending vines to help! :bighug:

Happy Gotcha Day for Shira and Ivy :) and congratulations on the new house. I'm so glad the kitties approve.
It's nice to see you and get an update and be able to say "Hi". I hope you will continue to post when you have time.
Hugs.

Geez. I can't believe a year has passed. One of the first things I did when I moved into my new place was hang a photo of George (GA). It's in a place where I see it every day and he makes me smile. I hope Chyna is doing the same for you.

Shira reminds me a lot of Gabby's coloring. Aren't torties fun? I'm glad all of the changes are working out well.

Morning Rachel :coffee::coffee::coffee:

How cool to hear from you. I too cannot believe that it has been a year since your new arrivals, and China's crossing. Where does time go.... Ivy and Shira are so cute. I enjoyed the photos. And a ew home? Awesome! it is really nice that the kitties like the new place. Wow, such wodnerful changes for you.:cool::cool:

Ivy and Shira are so adorable. I'm glad they are so happy with you and like their new home. It is hard to remember our furbabies that we have lost. I still get teary-eyed about mine when I think of them. But I can also smile at the memories. :bighug::bighug:

It is so wonderful to see an update, and Shira and Ivy are just gorgeous! I have no doubt Chyna is smiling down on all three of you, even though you're in a new place now. I'm looking forward to seeing more updates!!!

Thank you for visiting, everyone! It's nice to rent a condo to say hello:)

-Wendy, it's been a hard stressful year, but lots of good changes! Don't worry, I'm not giving up on the smooshing, I've gotten them to partially relent, I'll just keep wearing them down:p
-Chris, thanks, I totally understand what you mean! I would love to find a place I (mostly) want to go to in the morning;). Paws crossed it happens soon! They really do bring a lot of life to my house sometimes, haha. Lots of zoomies and chasing up and down the hall:smuggrin:
-Tricia, thank you for the vines! I will keep trying to be here more often, if I could just get this job hunt over I'd have so much more time:rolleyes:
-Dyana, thanks! I hope things are going well with your new little one! I do need to do a condo more often, it's just weird without Chyna as a topic...
-Sienne, I do have a picture of Chyna on the mantel to the side of my TV in the living room. I have some pictures to hang too, when I get around to it, lol. I hate hanging pictures, it's always the last thing I do when I move! One picture is good, but I can't go through my albums yet without crying though. Tortis are great:)
-Liz, thank you, I'm so glad that they are "sisters" and seem to love each other. It makes life easier!
-Hi Michelle, yes time sure does fly sometimes! I'm so glad to hear from so many friends. My photos are pretty fuzzy compared to yours but they work:p
-Carla, thanks, I think they are pretty cute! They do seem to be happy adjusted kitties. I'm glad I'm not the only softy that tears up easy, so many people don't understand:bighug:
-Hi Amy, thank you, maybe I'm biased but my kitties are pretty beautiful:joyful:.

Well, I hope everyone is having a nice start to the week. Hugs! And kitties, think green and blue:cool::D
