OT Blue Jay photos

Yesterday was a beautiful day to be out and about! Unfortunately the birds didn't seem to think so; I really didn't see much at all!

When I got to my third and final stop for the morning, I could hear a bunch of Blue Jays. They were flying from treetop to treetop; way too high for photos! But luckily one was bathing at the edge of the river and decided to fly onto a nearby branch to groom himself after his bath. So attached is a series of images of his grooming session!

“Hey lady, can’t a bird get any privacy here?” Or at least, that’s what the last couple looks seem to be saying. :p Great photos. Wish I had the scope to do the same for the hummingbird 10 feet away from me.
Thanks Wendy! I wish I had as much luck with hummingbirds; I rarely find them and when I do I can't get focused on them.

Great pictures. Blue Jays remind me of dinosaur birds. Beautiful in a scary way. May be it is the perspective of the pictures but ours here in Texas seem much larger. We have several the frequent the bird bath daily, along with the dove and cardinals.

We had four deer in our back yard on Saturday. Poor things. They are building 6 new neighborhoods around us and completely destroying thier habitat, though these looked healthy and well fed .

:bighug:

IS that snow on that branch??? Next time you're out and about, how about a landscape for me? I'd love to see how much snow you have...

Beautiful shots of the bluejay too! Although he looks a little perplexed about all the attention - I'm sure you were far enough away that it's just his 'expression'...very cute! I felt like I was right there...

Have a great day Judy!

Beautiful photos! They were my dad’s favorite bird. Always think of him when I see and hear them. :(

They are pretty large birds so it might be the perspective. We have the same thing happening here with coyotes, they're commonly seen in subdivisions now.

We had about 4 inches of snow on Saturday night but a lot of it is gone already and it's supposed to be mild today.
I wasn't far away from the Blue Jay; I had been standing at the edge of the river looking for a Wood Duck that had been spotted recently and the Jay flew up from the edge and onto a nearby branch.
