I was just about to re-order test strips for Trix, and the "Buy 4, get one free" offer is no longer available. Argh! We can still buy them in individual packages, but the "deal" isn't there anymore. Does anyone know if that means they are discontinuing this product all together? I know they are now pushing the Arkray GlucoCard Vital (I even got a phone call at home about this!)....has anyone used this meter and strips yet?

Re: OT - ADW Arkray Glucocard 01 Sensor no longer available?

That's such a bummer and what really annoys me is that I had them on autoship and was actually expecting a new shipment on Monday. They never called or emailed to notify me that it was cancelled, but when I log on it does. They should at least honor the ones that were set to ship and the people never notified.

I don't really want to change meters-I know it shouldn't make a difference, but still feel like it's a setback. The Vital and strips ARE cheaper, though. I;d love to know if anyone has used them. It uses a slightly bigger sample than the 01.

Re: OT - ADW Arkray Glucocard 01 Sensor no longer available?

I use the Arkay Vital. It takes a little more blood but I have never had any problems with it. I loveeee the price of the strips. Bummer on the other meter.

Re: OT - ADW Arkray Glucocard 01 Sensor no longer available?

Thanks, Melissa. That was one thing I loved about the switch from One Touch to Relion...the Relion needs less blood. I hate change, therefore hate the thought of switching meters, but it looks like Arkray is forcing the issue. At least it seems the Vital is accurate...

Re: OT - ADW Arkray Glucocard 01 Sensor no longer available?

I used the Bayer Contour before and strips were very expensive. When I switched over I tested with both for a week and the Vital was right on. Tarragon is a bleeder so the blood has never been an issue for us. I will say that I lost more strips on the Contour due to too small of a blood sample than I have on the Vital.

Re: OT - ADW Arkray Glucocard 01 Sensor no longer available?

I guess I'll order one then-the strips are half the cost. After I call ADW and give them an earful for not notifying me.

Re: OT - ADW Arkray Glucocard 01 Sensor no longer available?

So does this mean the ReliOn Confirm meter will not be made then? I can't get blood out of Daphne's ears now, and the Bayer pretty much is useless these days, just not enough blood in Daphne's ears.

Re: OT - ADW Arkray Glucocard 01 Sensor no longer available?

Where did you see that deal? I saw the meter+ 100 strips for about $35

Re: OT - ADW Arkray Glucocard 01 Sensor no longer available?

It looks like the strips and meters are still available, just not the buy 4 get 1 free offer. We had this on autoship too, and didn't get any notice it was no longer available. I went to my account after seeing this OT post and it says this offer no longer available. We switched to this meter recently after using the alpha trak and love it, so easy to use and such a small blood sample. I would hate to have to switch to something else again. Thanks for the heads up on this!

Re: OT - ADW Arkray Glucocard 01 Sensor no longer available?

I saw the same deal, Amy...didn't see a meter with 200 strips. I broke down and got the meter + 100 strips, plus the "by 4 get one free" deal.

Barb - I bet the Relion confrim strips wil l still be available. As of now, the GlucoCard 01 strips are still available on ADW, but the "By 4 get 1 free" deal is gone...it kind of implies to me that at least ADW is phasing this meter out. I could be wrong...

Re: OT - ADW Arkray Glucocard 01 Sensor no longer available?

Thanks Amy.
At this point, I'll keep using the ReliOn meter from Walmart with the strips, they are $36.00 or so for 100. It's just such an easy meter to use. I was confused because Arkray makes the ReliOn and the strips, so if they stop making the Arkray, then they would stop the ReliOn…?

Re: OT - ADW Arkray Glucocard 01 Sensor no longer available?

I just switched to the Arkray Vital from the Relion Confirm (using the Glucoard 01 Sensory strips). I switched because the cost of the Vital strips is so much cheaper ($46 for five boxes of the Vital versus $70 for the other). I LOVE the Vital meter. You'll probably never notice that it needs a bit more blood because our cats ears bleed so easily for us since we've been at this for a while. The good thing about the Vital meter (though it took a bit for me to get used to it) is that it doesn't beep when you put a strip in and it doesn't beep when you get enough blood on the strip and it starts its countdown. You need to keep an eye on the meter as you're touching the strip to the drop of blood so you make sure you get enough. As soon as the meter starts its countdown, you know you're good to go. Not having the meter beep in the cat's ear is a good thing for those jumpy cats out there. I did accuracy checks between the Vital and the Relion Confirm, checking the same drop of blood with both meters, to see how they compare. I did this for three days. They are EXACTLY right on in the low numbers, a couple points off between 100-200, and about 10-20 points off at 200 and above. The Vital certainly passed my test!!

Re: OT - ADW Arkray Glucocard 01 Sensor no longer available?

Thanks for the info, Patty! I ordered the Vital kit with 100 strips, plus the "Buy 4 get 1 free" last night, and now I feel much more secure in my purchase. Pluse, having even cheapers strips makes me a happy camper! I actually purposely turned off the "beep" feature of my Confirm, so I'm A-OK with the silence of the Vital.

Re: OT - ADW Arkray Glucocard 01 Sensor no longer available?

I ordered the GC Vital meter and extra strips. I hope that it will work okay for Mikey and that it will be easy to use; I really like the Micro because it's so easy to hold. I did email ADW and tell them that cancelling an auto-ship order with no notice to the customer is unacceptable and that if it happens again, I will take my business elsewhere. I can imagine that there are quite a lot of diabetics running low on supplies and expecting a package that is never going to come.

Re: OT - ADW Arkray Glucocard 01 Sensor no longer available?

I'm not sure about all the relion meters out there, we used the relion micro, but with that meter you can turn off the sound .. just in case anyone didn't know that was an option :-D mocha hated the beeps too!

Re: OT - ADW Arkray Glucocard 01 Sensor no longer available?

I'd hate to switch from our Relion Confirm. Atticus usually isn't a big bleeder, even now. I like the beep; it lets me know I've got enough even when I'm bleary-eyed. I think Atticus likes it too- it means it's treat-time!

Re: OT - ADW Arkray Glucocard 01 Sensor no longer available?

If you have bought the strips from them before they will let you buy them again. Just go to your account and previous purchases and click on the link "buy 4 get 1 free". It worked for me :-D

Re: OT - ADW Arkray Glucocard 01 Sensor no longer available?

That's interesting. I didn't even try that, because when I looked under my order history it said "this offer is no longer available" under my previous orders of the "buy4 get one free". Oh well...my new meter and strips shipped yesterday, and I do like that they are less expensive!

Re: OT - ADW Arkray Glucocard 01 Sensor no longer available?

Just an FYI, but the "buy four boxes get one free" deal for the Relion Confirm/Micro tests is available here. Still, at a cost of $70 versus $46 for the same number of Vital strips, I'm going to stick with the Vital.

Re: OT - ADW Arkray Glucocard 01 Sensor no longer available?

It looks like they "reinstated" the "Buy 4, Get 1 free" deal with the GlucoCard 01 strips. In the meantime, my Vital is on its way, and I do like the new price!

Re: OT - ADW Arkray Glucocard 01 Sensor no longer available?

You will like the Vital. Trixie may not because you'll want to test all the time at that price.

Re: OT - ADW Arkray Glucocard 01 Sensor no longer available?

My Vital came today. It's easy to use (have to get used to no beep!) and the readings are ok compared to the Relion...not as close as I'd hoped. The 92 (Relion)/79 (Vital) reading I got at PMPS is just barely in the 20% range (tested on the same drop of blood). And they sent the wrong color, but oh well. I'll test with both the rest of the night and see what we get for numbers. The Vital did come in the correct range with the control solution. The pen it came with is way better than the one that came with the Relion.
