I found these new treats at my local pet store and brought them home and my civvies were going crazy about them even before the bag was opened. I have never seen them go wild for freeze dried treats like this. I have not offered them to my sugarcat because I wanted to check their website first.

http://www.orijen.ca/blog/products/cat-food/freeze-dried-cat-treats/original-cat-treats/

The website boasts that the treats are made of cage-free chicken and turkey from local sources, and wild-caught flounder from Vancouver and feature a Biologically Appropriate protein content of 45%

They claim to be free of any grains or carbohydrates. To top it off, they were cheaper than the Weruva or Stella treats I have been buying.

My sugarkitty doesn't like freeze-dried treats but after reading their website, I may run a few under his nose to see if he is interested.

Has anybody tried these treats?

I've been wondering the same thing but I'm assuming they are fine. The ingredients are all protein. My cats love the regional red which is boneless wild boar, boneless beef, boneless lamb, wild boar liver, lamb liver and beef liver. They absolutely love the Alberta wild boar which is boneless wild boar and wild boar liver. It states 100% pure boar. The package says biologically appropriate freeze dried? Luckily my cat Hidey that was diagnosed with diabetes LOVES these and I could never get him to eat any other treats besides temptations.

I was quickly browsing their website and decided to click on a link for one of their dry cat food links. They list carbs for this food as being 1.2% MAX?!? Can that possibly be true with a dry food? I am skeptical about some of their claims, anyone have more info or experience with this company?

I have heard that Orijen has a low-carb dry food but I don't feed ANY dry food to my crew - low carb or other - because regardless of its carb content, it is not healthy in any cats diet. I and many others believe dry food can cause urinary tract infections and other renal health issues. It is also very bad for the teeth. The food sits on the teeth and gums and causes infections and gingivitis etc.

Unless Orijen has come out with a new dry cat food in the last few months, I'm not aware of any of their dry foods that are low carb. Last I checked, I seem to remember a lot of potato, pea, other veggie and fruit ingredients in their foods. Seems to me, the carb percentages were in the low to mid 20% range.

Looking on their website, at the Regional Red dry for cats, under the guaranteed analysis, the carb % is listed as 20%.

Unlike with wet or canned foods, manufacturers are required to list the carb percentages on the bag of dry food. Easy to look up on-line.
