Hoping someone can help me. Oreo NEVER vomits - no hairball, nothing - and he's 5. Yesterday afternoon he vomited about an hour after he ate. It didn't have a smell and looked like undigested food, so we thought he had eaten too fast. He had eaten Friskies Ocean Whitefish & Tuna. (His second meal of the day of OWT.) He ate it two more meals after that, without any problems.

Today, he started on Friskies Mixed Grill and ate it for two meals without incident. Ate it at 10:30 and about an hour later, vomited. This time it was more and had a little smell. Of course, it could've smelled more because it was more. Again, he ate it fast, but only ate half of what he usually eats. (The second meal in a row of him not finishing the 1/4 can.) I was thinking since it's more nutrient dense than dry he may just be finally leveling off the amount.

Thoughts?? He's been eating Friskies for about a week and has had both of these flavors before...

Thanks!!

Libby

Purina makes Friskies - and a couple of my cats are trowing up Purina Pro Plan Turkey and Giblets - may be a processing problem.

Pick up food and let GI tract rest 6-12 hours.

Watch for dehydration - gently pull up scruff of neck and release. If it snaps right back, you're probably OK. If it stays tented, cat may need fluids for hydration.

Contact vet if vomiting continues without food intake or dehydrated.

Thanks, BJ. We feed at shot time and +6 for both kitties, so that'll give him 6 hours past eating and 5 hours past vomiting. Do you think we need to delay his longer? I was thinking of maybe trying a different food. I have a FF Turkey & Giblets, but he's started snubbing the Wellness, so that's all the wet I have in the house. His scruff snaps back like usual, so hoping he's okay.

It just completely threw me since he's never vomited...Thanks a bunch!

Fancy Feast Turkey & Giblets is the other food I've been mixing in and I haven't determined which food is the culprit, though I think it may be the Pro Plan.

And Purina makes FF, too.

If you feed, try very small amount and observe.

You might gently massage belly and notice if painful, pulling away. Could have some sort of GI upset.

I didn't even think about Purina making FF, too, kind of have the market cornered, don't they? Will try massaging his belly. Do you know of a gentler food I can try? Of course, nobody is open tonight (12:20am) but I can see what Food Lion has in the morning. That's the only store near us. Or can plan to make a trip later in the day to Walmart, might can even make it to PetSmart, but not sure. Of course, I'll have to do something to get food for him to eat...

Different plants may produce the different product lines. Whatever you fed most recently, avoid.

Test small amounts and monitor.

Could just be a 'bug' that will pass.

At Hershey's +6 (4:30am), we gave Oreo just a few bites of the Mixed Grill. He never asks for food, but you know he's hungry, so now at +9 we're giving him a few more bites.

I just don't understand how he ate the Ocean Whitefish & Tuna once - no problem, but after the next meal - boom! Ate two more times, plus one time of the Mixed Grill - no problem, but after the next meal - BOOM! It could be a little bug...if so, I hope it passes quickly. Will try to keep an eye on his water consumption today. He doesn't like water mixed with his food or I'd do that...

Thanks!

It may not be the food. He may have some other issue. Monitor the 5 Ps and maybe go in for vet visit soon.
