Hello again everyone,
My cat Belly has been OTJ for a year but a few days ago I noticed her numbers up again.
It started with what I thought was a UTI, on Monday, when I checked her numbers she was up in the mid 100’s. I thought it was likely due to the stress of the UTI and didn’t get too worried about it, but when I took her to the vet and saw that she was underweight I started to worry again. At the vet they gave her an anti-inflammatory shot (diagnosed with FUS) and 10 days of antibiotics. I’ve read that the stress of not feeling well+anti inflammatories+antibiotics could increase her numbers, but today AMPS were in the 300’s. Should I start giving her insulin ASAP or should I wait to see if her numbers return down in a few days?
Thanks in advanced for all the support!

That’s bad luck she has FUS and the BG are higher. I would give it a couple more days to see if the medications work. If there is no improvement in the BGs, I would post again and ask about a dose. Good luck!
If it has been a year since she last had insulin, the Lantus would be out of date.

Thanks for the advice, I think I’ll wait and monitor her. Today her AMPS numbers were lower than yesterday.

Try feeding her and then taking a BG three hours after the food to see if her pancreas is producing insulin and bringing down the BG at all.
