So...today is officially one week on Lantus :-D His best number this week was 230 (@+2 today) and his worst was 568 (PMPS 1st day on Lantus). I know the guidelines say that you increase your dosage if the peak is above 150 after 7 days on a consistent dose. I will be testing his peak at 1:00pm EST and will post that number. I am looking for feedback, should I increase his dose by .50 U? I'm thinking yes, but meeting some resistance from others in the household. Thoughts?

To be on the safe side I would go to 1 1/4 units, not to 1 1/2
I don't have immediate access to U100's that have .50 U markings. I could do a plump 1.00 or 1.50. So would you recommend the plump 1.00 then?

*update* His blood is not forming good droplets for testing, couldn't get a reading for +6 or +7  I am so frustrated and I have no idea why this happens or what to do about it. I tried at least a dozen times, maybe 6 times on each ear. It doesn't help that his ears are still very itchy.

Have you tried neosporin ointment on the spot you are planning to poke? It should help the blood well up.

Do a fat 1 if you can't do 1.5

I did try the Neosporin and it helped. His blood is still watery and he doesn't bleed much, but it is easier with the Neosporin.
