I have been using the new One Touch Delica Lancet Pen for a couple of days and I really like how it works. It is very quiet and gets blood well even though it uses 33 gauge lancets. The only downsides are that it does not come with a clear cap and that is uses proprietary lancets (not interchangeable with the generic ones). I thought I would try t since it was free with a coupon ($20.00). I was looking for new pen since I found out that pens do not last for ever. I finally had to give up on two One Touch lance pens since the spring got too week after almost seven or eight years of use.

I got this one with the coupon and love it too. It's much easier on Tucker's ear, he's been getting tested for years and the smooth strike seems softer for him. I think we both prefer it:)

I tried to use a pen.. but I have found using just the lancet easier. Is it better for their little ears to use a pen?

We love it too, both Meowzi and I! We've almost finished our second box of 100 lancets. There's been less ouchies for her, and less ouchies for me as well when I test myself out of curiosity! :)

I don't know if pen is better than freehand, except that I can't do freehand. If you're comfortable freehand then I'm sure it's fine:)

The advantage of using a lancet pen is that pokes are consistent. One disadvantage of musing lancet alone is that if the cat/ear moves when the lacent is in the ear you can rip the ear a little. I did that at the beginning and there was blood all over my bathroom.
