? One pupil dilated more than the other? Anisocoria

got feedback from my vet this morning when I called a bit panicked after noticing one of mr b's pupils were constricted and the other was dilated normal. she said its a diabetic thing, and that her diabetic cat has that happen now and then.

I believe her. she'd be happy to see him today if it makes me feel better, but we were just there on Saturday saying goodbye to another $500 and its an hour round trip I don't want to do unless necessary. my cat is acting normal, well normal for a poorly controlled diabetic cat.

anyone have this happen to their cat?

I have not seen that in any of my diabetic cats. I do have one civi who exhibits that symptom. She had had that all her 8 years along with other problems like cataracts, arthritis and luxating patellas.

One of my non diabetic cats used to have that happen frequently. Vet couldn't find anything wrong with him.

This happened to Scoobs. He was not diabetic. The condition lasted from the afternoon until ~9pm. Scoobs died 6-8 weeks later of a necrotized intestine. I don't know if the two issues were related. In his whole 7 years that we knew him, it didn't occur previously.

When the Anisocoria occurred, I read a lot about it. Sometimes it just happens. Often there is nothing to be done about it. On the other hand it may indicate a serious condition which can potentially be treated.
