On my way out and . . .

Hi,
This isn't really a 911 but I'm ready to go out, not returning until +10-+11 and Chong's at 217. Yesterday at this time she was at 399 and then dropped 120 pts in 3 hours. If the same thing happens as yesterday, that will put her at 97. Should I give her a little FF Classic before I leave or just leave it alone. This is always where I get caught. I don't want her to go too low while I'm out but I don't want to feed her in the middle of the cycle either.

What to do, what to do . . .? Opinions?

Thanks
Barb

Hi Barb,
In my opinion I would feed alittle,
if you are hading out it is better to be safe then sorry

Hey Barb -

Since we're all in different time zones, it's helpful to know what time your reading is. So instead of saying it's 6:30 pm... we say something like "It's +5". Alot of us will post in this format, in addition to doing the spreadsheet, so viewers/advisers don't have to look too far to respond.

AM or PM preshot (AMPS/PMPS) is the baseline. The number following it is the BG reading.

AMPS 415 Shot 1.4u
+3 (299)
+6 (150
+8 (220) ... etc.

This helps us see that at +3 it was 299... or 120. If the lower number is later in the cycle, and we know the BG is rising, then it's not a big deal to leave for a while. However, as in your situation yesterday, if it was +3 and the number was dropping rapidly, it could be critical that the kitty has food should it start to drop.

Hope all was well while you were out.

Hi,
She was ok when I got back just in time for her next shot. Tested at 336 and ate, but not enthusiastically, about 1/2 can FF Classic. I had to give her a new can, she wouldn't eat what was left over from earlier today. This is a new development. Ususally she is starving and will eat just about anything. I looked around to see if she got into any food but didn't find any. She did seem at one point to be looking for the dm dry, which has been moved up very high out of her reach. The listnessless at eating time doesn't seem like a good development.

She looked with longing at her hiding spot after eating and the shot, an indication that she doesn't feel well. She looked but didn't go there.

I feel so bad that her numbers were so good before I went out of town and dropped the dose to 1/2 unit since she wouldn't allow the sitter to test. The numbers have been no where near there since. I feel like we missed our only opportunity at remission.

How nice remission would be. . .

Thanks for your support.

Barb & Chong
