Oliver’s microdose - Is it time to bump it up?

My instincts are telling me it’s time to adjust Oliver’s 0.1 microdose. He has been on it for 4 full cycles and numbers have consistently hovered in upper 200’s and 300’s. I also have low confidence in our syringes reliably delivering a consistent dose at such a small dose. Today, I used water to test our measurement and it’s hit and miss as to whether the dose is clearing the syringe or not. What would your advice be?? I’m comfortable bumping back to .2 and keeping a close eye on numbers over the next few days. @Suzanne & Darcy

There’s something strange about it. You should be able to count the number of drops of insulin (or colored water to check) for a .1 dose. Insulin should definitely come out of the syringe. There’s a dose called a drop dose that’s even smaller and it also has some insulin that comes out (a drop obviously.)

Having said that, I am perfectly happy to have you take him back up to .2 units. Don’t skip the snack meals and hopefully he will do great!

These are good U-100 syringes. I had far less trouble with air bubbles with these as well.

Yeah my technique has been to go to the .2 line and expel a drop to get our dose but even when I do that I’ll sometimes push the syringe all the way in to see if anything comes out and half the time nothing does. I’m glad I got more curious and looked into it. This is what we are currently using I’ll have to find the others. Meanwhile my daughter just checked him and he is 106 this morning. He decided to be healthy today. 😅

This is our syringe pulled back to the 1/2 line. Hate em. I have some light touch 100-u syringes that I use for my personal stuff. I might play with those using some water just to see differences.

Alright my easy touch syringes are much better and consistent. I’m just going to use those and trash these other ones. They are terrible. So that being said…. And considering his amps today… should we stick with .1 (now that I feel I can reliably measure out that dose) or still plan on bumping to .2?

Did you give insulin?

So you are able to measure out the number of drops with your Easy Touch syringes?

I really think he’s a bouncy cat and bounces from even yellow numbers. Also, we really can’t be sure how much insulin he’s been getting or not getting recently. For now, since you have figured out the syringe problem, I would give just the .1 dose tonight— even if he’s climbed into pink. He’s toying with you! 😜 Let’s see what a real, consistent .1 dose can do for him.

Sounds great thank you!
