hi,

I have browsed this forum for some time but have never posted my spreadsheet. I want to see if it works, now that I have finally figured out how to get it from paper to google docs. So, here goes!

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc ... sp=sharing

Miles was dx'd in Nov 2010 and we have had mixed success with his treatment. My husband and I work multiple jobs. Usually all we get in is two tests a day, to make sure he actually needs the insulin. I say "we" because we share the dosing, but I'm the only one who tests.

His numbers bounce all over the place and our dosing (and timing) are inconsistent. We are aware of this. He seems completely fine to us, though (albeit a bit overweight).

This is no emergency, just trying this all out so if things do go downhill, I have a resource.

For the spreadsheet,

1) in the upper right corner of the spreadsheet corner is a button for sharing. Select that and specify anyone with the link may see it.

2) in File menu pull down, select Publish to the web. There will be a link which you can copy. That is the link to put in your signature.

And if you link it into the signature in your user control panel, it will be there for every post.

While in your google drive and have the document up on the screen:
6) Copy the link in the DOCUMENT LINK box. (CTRL + C or CMD + C)

7) For a simple text link, like http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key= ... utput=html, replace the words "link here" in the following code with the link to YOUR spreadsheet: link here

It will look like this:
Code: Select allhttp://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=p4nuph4W6EFUSqZA10igCfg&output=html

(go to #8 below)

7) If you would like a "word" link, such as Cosmo's SS, use the following code: text. replace "link" with your spreadsheet URL, and replace 'text' with the name of your spreadsheet.

it will look like this
Code: Select allCosmo's SS

8) Go to the "User Control Panel" at the top of this page, and go to profile tab. In the edit signature tab, paste the code you created (control v or command v) and save it.

If you have questions, post a new topic in the TECH forum and ask away! Someone will help!

Able to see the spreadsheet now. :thumbup What insulin are you using? I'm assuming PZI or ProZinc due to the different dosings at shot time.

I can see his sheet. Do you want to add the insulin, dose and what food you are feeding to your signature? That will help too..

hi all,

Miles is on Lantus. We use the pens.

The amount and timing of food he eats varies because we have two cats; Nikolai (18 1/2) is presumably hyperthyroid, and he is perpetually hungry. In an effort to regulate this somewhat, I put out four cans per day for them both; three Fancy Feast classic and one Friskies pate. We use the timed feeder for a small snack around 12 pm (if nobody is home) and 2 am.

As far as linking the spreadsheet to my signature, I'll have to do that some other time (I'm at work now).

Yes! Miles SS is in your signature and I can access it just fine. Good job.

Were there any questions your had? Anything we can help with?

Is Miles doing ok these days?

Is the presumably hyperthyroid cat on meds? The increased heart rate and blood pressue can cause a stroke. Meds can be a simple as dissolving some methimazole in a bit of tasty pate food and letting her eat it. Or using a transdermal gel rubbed in the ear. My Emmy lived to be at least 19, using methimazole for 5 years.

Miles is doing just fine. He is such a sweetie.

We are taking an overnight vacation soon and having one of my former students come in to give the insulin. She did it last year for us. Fortunately, Miles is such a good-natured big guy. (She has a hedgehog and I asked her what they feed it and she said "Dry cat food." I didn't tell her I wouldn't give my CAT dry food, let alone my hedgehog.)

Anyway, our other cat, Nikolai, is presumably hyperthyroid and our vet did not suggest any treatment other than y/d, which I was not impressed with. He and Miles eat the same food: FF and Friskies pates. And sometimes a little cheese. He's doing well considering he's 18 1/2 and has black puffy tumors around his eyes. Is methimazole easy to get? I wonder why he said there was nothing we could do.

I also joined the hyperthyroid and CRF groups on FB. Dmitri died of complications from renal failure last year (at 17 1/2) and I wanted to have a better idea of what to expect with Nikolai.

The methimazole is very easy to give. I had it compounded into a gel that gets rubbed on the bare spot of the inside of the ear. Some people use the pill and out it in a pill pocket. I think the pill might be bitter, don't remember, so not sure if you could crush it to add to the food.
