I haven’t been around for a while because I lost my diabetic cat four years ago after years of monitoring and treating. Now it looks like I may have an issue with another cat who is on steroids - maybe not, but at least I need to start testing him. But the problem is, it seems that my trusty old Relion Micro meter has been discontinued, and Arkray 01 strips that used to fit it aren’t available anymore either! Ugh! I love that meter! And I used to buy those strips by the crate lol.

So what reliable meters are people using now, preferably with bulk non-brand strips available for them?

Thanks!

We do not advise using strips that are not made for the specific meter you're using. The Relion strips are inexpensive.

Is this some new policy? There is tons of discussion on this board about how the Arkray strips fit the Relion Micro, And indeed if I recall correctly the Micro was manufactured by Arkray, which also had its own Micro meter that was virtually identical. Or something like that, I don't recall completely. But there was a lot of completely open discussion about the interchangeability of the strips, and about how when Walmart stopped selling the Micro you could still at least get Arkray 01 strips to use in it for quite a while. It wasn't a secret or some illicit attempt to cram incorrect strips into a meter. So I'm not exactly sure why it's a problem to mention that now.

I may not be recalling the discussion about the Arkray. There were discussions about using the Freestyle strips in the AlphaTrack and that was not a supported decision. I don't think there are very many people who have even mentioned the Arkray in recent years.

It looks like the Relion Premier series of meters use the same test strips as the Arkray - Glucocard Shine Blood Glucose meters. However it appears that getting the strips direstly from Walmart is less expensive than getting Arkray test strips.

I did use the Relion strips with my Arkray meter and did not have any issues. Since the Arkray was my backup I bought only Relion strips if I recall correctly.

I had the Relipn Micro. I used the strips for it and 90% of the time that meter. If I used the Array I used the Re;ion strips.
