Last night, I went to a show and hung out with some friends. . . a simple night out, but something I haven't really done since Wendell's diagnosis.
The vet said it was ok if he missed a shot a week. What are your feelings?
My feeling is, if it's not going to affect him too badly, I could really use a night out with friends, or to go to the theater, to rejuvenate.

Thoughts?
Also, please let me know what you think of our new sig/Wendell's bg chart.

It'll depend on your cat, how well he is controlled, and how much he swings between shots.

We have some tactics for managing time issues.
1) if you know you'll be shooting later and its possible, shift the shot times as much as 30 minutes per day or 15 minutes per shot, whichever works best in your cat.

2) finding a trusted volunteer, friend, or someone interested in veterinary science to come and learn how to monitor and shoot, to cover when you cannot be there.

3) There is a finagle which may be used if you have the data to show it would be safe, ie, you test it on a day you can monitor to observe the effects. It is called split-dosing. Vickie and Gandalf had to do this.

There may be people here who may tell you that it is not good to do this regularly but they would be just trying to protect your sugarcat. Look, I took on a sugarfoster before I knew about the 12/12. One day a week I go out with my boyfriend and return late. Our numbers are high so I just shoot late - and then shoot as late as possible the next morning. Then there was a time when my catsitter forgot to come by and he missed two shots in a row - and he was just fine. I think you have to take care of yourself in order to take care of Wendell and that includes relieving stress by hanging out with friends. Maybe Wendell's numbers will offer you that relief from any guilt you may put on yourself. Maybe split-dosing is doable. I also think that there should be a way to set up a geographical network of beans who could help each other out. If you lived in Northern VA, I would offer to come over and give him his shot so you wouldn't have to worry and could enjoy your night off.
