Hello Everyone. Emma is straining to get that last, little piece of poop out. I've had her to the specialist vets and after $1400.00 the great news is that it's not her back, or cancer/tumors, and her blood work was great. But she does have arthritis in both hips. So I could really use some help here.

Emma spreads her legs wide to poop, she get's it all out but the last 1 inch. She will walk around the house trying to work it out. She meowed in terrible pain 1 week ago trying to get this out which prompted the vet visits. She is okay now. She's pooped without meowing. But today I see her trying to get that last nugget out. I really feel that it's right at her anus that she's having the trouble and only with the last piece.

I would like to try some kind of oil or lubricant to get the poop to slide better. The poop isn't dry, it's the consistency of play dough, so I think that part is okay. What do you guys use? She only eats FF canned with 8 pieces of kibble Wysong Epigen added. (I did that to make sure she had some fiber.) I tried using the Walgreen's metamucil but that didn't help. I have the Pfizer hairball paste (which she really loves) but I'm not sure if it's okay to give her that 3 times a week. I guess I was hoping for some kind of oil to add to her food.

Any ideas at all would be so greatly appreciated.

Here’s a site that explains constipation. Felineconstipation.org. I use Miralax and canned plain pumpkin.

I use miralax for Howie and it’s helped. My vet prescribed 1/8 to 1/4 teaspoon per day but could double it if needed. I use 1/8 tsp and it’s been a good dose. I mix the unflavored powder in his food and he doesn’t know it’s there.
