Anybody have experience with pretty low BG numbers after being off insulin a while? Charlie has been off for 10 days, with numbers steadily going down (obviously I've been quite happy :)). But past two days he has been below 50 in the late morning, worrying me a bit. I had switched to completely low carb wet food, but when it's been below 50 the past two days, I've fed him a little bit of Purina DM dry, which seems to get him up to 70-80. Does it seem like something I should worry about?

Maybe the Relion meter is significantly low below 60? I know it was about 10 percent (or 20 points) low in the 200 range (compared to vet's meter), but no information at lower numbers.

Thanks,

Dan

Don't worry... cat can't hypo on no insulin. I have one cat who's tested at 42 and 48, so no need for you to worry.

Our guidelines say cats off insulin range from 40-120. Lots of cats naturally run in the 40-50s. They can't hypo without insulin. You can cut out the high carb stuff and celebrate his beautiful numbers! Congrats!
