October 15 Blackie *Starting on Levemir today*

Hey everyone. I'm going to start Blackie on Levemir in a few hours and just wanted to say thank you so much for all the advice and guidance for the past year in LL. It's been almost a year since his diagnosis and it's going to be a tough battle.

We really dropped the ball somewhere a few months ago. He used to respond well with the smaller doses but these days it's too high for our liking. I'm going to start on 5 units of Levemir today and check on him a few times.

Blackie is doing well like always. Still catching mouses these days.
 
Yeah we were giving him 7.5 units of Lantus. So I times it by 0.7 and got 5.25 units of Levemir. I decided to start right on 5 units.

5.00 units sounds good. But, please be preparred that he may react well to it. J.D. did.

We are on on Levemir too...I hope you will keep right on posting here so that we can share in Blackie's progress...
(many of us here in LL are loving Levemir!!) I am so happy that you decided to try it!

Good Luck on the Levemir! I hope Blackie enjoys it as much as Spot! Oh, and yep, you can keep posting here in LL. I use Lev and we've never been anywhere else!
 
All the best with the insulin switch! I switched from Lantus and it seems to be good for both mine.
Those yellows are looking pretty nice on his ss too!
 
Ken, how is Blackie doing on the new insulin?
Your spreadsheet isn't updated, so I can't tell, and I'm curious, and hoping you are seeing a breakthrough :-D
 
Yeah I just got it up to date today. We saw a blue one day and green the next. Theres big rebounds like it used to be but hes getting low numbers again so thats good.

I see you have begun the Lev for Blackie, hmmm...interesting start, keep us posted or at least your SS updated ok?
And please keep Dyana's suggestions in mind - spotchecks in the evening whenever you can will provide crucial info.
