Felix's AMPS was higher than I expected (to the degree I feel able to expect anything). There was some dried blood on his ear and the sample seemed a little thick, and I wondered if that affected the reading. I retested (twice) about 25 minutes later, and that was closer to what I'd expected.

So I'm not sure whether his first test is inaccurate or he's coming down fast. I'll get a +2.

He's still pretty snuffly, appetite ok, attitude ok.

Oh, and something I've wondered from the beginning: why do we call our threads condos? What does that stand for?

If he has a "kitty cold", that might be increasing BG. I'd definitely keep testing for ketones at every opportunity with him running in high numbers and with (possibly) a little bug, they can develop so fast. Good thing his appetite is still OK-- that's often how they get in trouble with a cold (can't smell the food).

"Condos": I don't actually know (before my time), but I always thought it was kind of a play on words between "convos" (conversations), and cat condos (furniture). Maybe someone else knows the real story?

Will keep an eye out for the +2! I'm also wondering if Felix has something in store for the day (unless that was just a wonky strip on the first reading).

+2=417
Nope, no nosedive. I appreciate your eye on us.:)

Yeah, he's prone to mild colds. I know there are a few URI viruses that they can be carriers of and that may emerge in times of stress, and he had plenty of stress over the weekend. Or being out of the house and at the ER, he may've been exposed to something.

... Yay! Just got a ketone test.

Hope Felix comes on down.:bighug:....and kicks the snuffles and sneezies

Well, he's come down from the reds anyway. Our power has been out, so I got to try my hand at testing and shooting while holding a flashlight. And now I'm snuffly and am getting a sore throat; I have a sympathetic kitty cold.
