I came home and both bowls of canned, LC water-downed food were cleaned up. And she just devoured a whole can (3oz) of FF beef and liver feast Classic.

So it might seem a little weird that I get excited about 461 and 541 (what's with the 1s) but she is ON THE METER now.

So since I have her until the weekend, I am committed to getting up in the middle of the night for a test. I did a 6.5-7 last night. Will try to get a +6 in tonight (1am). Should I try to get a 3 or 4 as well?

I must say I was a little nervous coming in the door tonight because I called up the stairs and did not hear a screech - Oh my, she's grooming herself, right now - I haven't seen her do that since she arrived. Guess she's feeling a little better but we still have lots of work to do to get that Pancreas to start healing.

Robin, We don't think it's weird at all that you are finally getting readings for Nuzzles that are actual numbers. Too many HI readings for too long were discouraging. Things are looking up, including her appetite for canned food, BEEF flavors please is wonderful. We are so excited for you.

On your question with the getting a +3 or +4. It depends. Can you get either of those readings before you actually go to bed? Or does it mean waking up for either of those?

Well I could have gotten a +3 or +4 before bed but didn't. I spent the evening trying to brush some of her mats out now that she has a little meat on her bones. I did get a +6 of 401 so I didn't have to worry too much. Guess she is bouncing. I am not worried about handing her off with high numbers I just want to do it with the proper dosage. I guess I will have to wait until this bounce clears to see if the 1.5u is too high or too low. Probably tomorrow or Thursday she might settle down.

She is eating up lots of food. I left her with a full can of FF and a half a can of the 5.5 oz of Merrick BG. She's so much more relaxed now. Before she would trot down the stairs and paw at me which I thought was cute but now I realize that it was a cry for help. She is free to roam but now prefers to stay in her room in the window... and of course, wander into Snoball's room to use his litter box. I am so proud of her even with an AMPS of 548.

Again though, tonight I will jump out of bed between +6 and +7 and get a test.

Brushing some of those mats out of Nuzzles sounds like a higher priority than a test. Did she cooperate with you? Is she trying to help? Wink was horribly matted when I picked him up from the shelter where he had been stuck unregulated for almost 4 months, eating crappy dry high carb food and repeat UTI's every month.

I spent the first two days with him home with me, gently teasing out those mats in his fur. They had wanted to shave him, because no one there will take the time to patiently spend 5 minutes to tease out a couple of mats. ohmygod_smile Luckily, the vet tech could not make it the evening before. I told them it was a good thing, because my house is pretty cool.

After he started feeling better, he was yanking those matts out with his teeth. I'd find huge matted clumps of hair in his bed and I let him do some of the work and did a few more myself.

We're proud of you too! It can be hard to give up a sugarbaby into someone else's care. I recently did that with a short term foster. Kitty has a new furrever home though, and I knew my home would only be a short way stop on his journey.

I find that the more I brush her the better she looks even if I am only loosening the ends. She still doesn't have enough muscle to cut them and NO she does not cooperate. I have to hold her up under her tummy with one hand an brush with the other. Her dandruff has improved though. She is starting to preen again except that her back legs are still very stiff so getting to her back is difficult.

I am so glad that Wink found you. Look how far he has come in your care!

I think it will be very hard to give her up but I hope to stay in contact with her new mommy and will even offer free boarding and care during vacations. She needs to be in a home where she will be the only sick one and can get all the attention. I need to get back to attending to Snoball and his recent sunny numbers. I also need to prepare to take in one of my mother's cats before my brother abandons them and in between I have volunteered to temporarily foster a mother and kittens. What was I thinking?

You were thinking you have a big heart, and you do. Nothing wrong with that.

..or just plain old crazy cat lady!!!

Did a +6.5 last night on Nuzzles and got a salutation (HI) :-x grrrrr....

I was able to get some mats cut down or completely off. She is more steady now so the brushing doesn't seem to knock her around as much.

This morning she was at 527 and then I don't think she got all the insulin in her - double grrrrr.... Her skin is so thin and I tent and shoot down from the back but I felt wet on my finger afterwards so I am not sure where the needle came through.

One of my civvies camped in her room this morning so I left the room open. I don't think the civvies or Sno are at all interested in her wet food so this should be okay. I know that she will be happy to use Snoball's litterbox. Hers is very small and wet. His has the expensive litter in it.

It doesn't look like she has cleared the bounce but I am getting anxious to see if I can put her dose back to 2u. The 1am testing will continue. ~O)
