I recently contacted Purina regarding the nutrient composition of several of their Fancy Feast Classic Delights with Cheddar, as well as their Grilled Delights with Cheddar. They sent me a thorough breakdown of several of these varieties and I would like to submit them for inspection. Perhaps some of the Classics can be added to the list of favorable foods for diabetic kitties. I think the grilled varieties likely have too many carbohydrates. To whom do I submit this info and how do I go about it?

Dr Pierson of Cat Info has been keepin a great file of the info.

You might put it into a similar format and post it here, and/or send it to her so she can update her file.

Re: Nutrient Composition of Fancy Feast Varieties with Chedd

I noticed in your SS that you are "wondering if there is any hope for my baby. She cannot go on like this." Just to encourage you that this process can take some time. Tommy was diagnosed last fall and is finally doing very well. That's not to say that he doesn't have some higher numbers. (Tommy's dosing is specific to him and should not be copied.) Some cats respond quickly and others take their own sweet time to get regulated. Take deep breaths and know that we are all here to help you. Those with more experience will offer you their advise and support. I couldn't have done this without them.

Sandy&Tommy, thank you so much for your words of encouragement. I get so discouraged when I see my sweet girl not making any progress. I have since taken that comment down, as don't want others to think I am such a negative person. I tend to get emotional and that certainly doesn't help anything, especially my baby. Sometimes, I feel so alone when dealing with this diabetes curse. It sure helps to know there are good folks like you who are in tune with this sort of thing and willing to offer advice and help. Many, many thanks! ... And hugs. :YMHUG:

I am glad that your comment was there. Sometimes those of us that have been here awhile forget how terrifying this all can be. Just about a couple of months ago I was actually battling these same feelings. It seemed that nothing I tried seemed to work and I was crying so hard that Tommy, yes him, he came up to me and nuzzled me as if to say "mom, it's okay, we will keep trying together"! Wow, that just now made my eyes water... You shouldn't need to take that comment out as it was what you were truly feeling. Months from now you would see that comment and think about how far the two of you have come. I think you should put it back in, personally. No one will think you are a negative person, just one who is still struggling. We are here to help, encourage and love you and your precious sugar baby. You are a very special mamma bean that is doing all she can do to take the very best care of Hannah. cat_pet_icon
