Numbers Question re AlphaTrak2

I see the instructions on this blog all say that the numbers are for human glucose meters. If using an AlphaTrakII meter what are considered “good” or “low” numbers?

I ask because the chart my vet gave me said anything under 80 is “extremely low” but I see here that people seem to aim to be in the 70s-90s.

We consider 68 to 150 to be normal range for BG. Idexx labs uses 72-175 as a normal range. 68 is the BG level we consider as a warning that BG is going too low and some action is required to ensure BG does not continue to drop for a cat on insulin. We wouldn't consider 80 "extremely" low, but rather a wonderful healthy BG. :)

There is no where on the message board that lists normal numbers for the Alphatrak. Your vet may be able to give you and idea of that. We do use 68 as the number below which you “take action” and give high carb food to bring them up.

I have used both a human meter and AT2. I tested with both meters over abt a week to get a feel for the difference between them and take that into consideration when I follow the stickies. I.e., using my AT2, the #'s are approx. 30-35 higher than my human meter.

(I will be switching to new human meters for both cats after my strips are all used up!)
