Since our first home-test yesterday, we have not given any insulin. This morning he was 5.1 and tonight before dinner he was 3.3. He is still acting lethargic, but eating fine, and today I wiped away some clear eye discharge. We also noticed today he was sneeze/sniffling - maybe allergies? If his numbers are in the green, should he not be acting more like his old self? Does this take time or does it sound like something else is going on here? I will be in touch with the vet tomorrow but I just wanted some insight from all of you. Thanks again! :)

He should be doing better, unless he is sick with something else. given the eye symptoms, that seems possible.
Take a look at the Secondary Monitoring Tools in my signature and see if any of those seem out of normal - thirst and appetite, urination and defecation, dehydration, and urine ketone and glucose tests may be helpful to do.

Eye seems fine today. Nothing out of normal on the secondary tools really and I just checked for ketones on Saturday.

He has still been sleeping most of the day :( Vet has no idea because his blood work doesn't suggest anything else.. Also perplexed at how fast the insulin seems to have brought him down (and kept him there). He wants us to keep in touch with him this week in regards to the sleeping and mentioned this may be a case for him to share with a Board of Physicians ?? For their advice.. I'm feeling stuck too, because I know he still isn't himself and we don't have a clue what's going on...

It is strange. I wish I had some ideas. You're sure your meter is working properly? Hope he perks up soon.

:eek:Me too! Yes, we poked Alex with it.. Haha! :bookworm: He was in the normal range.

Thank you. I don't really want to let his go on all week so I will probably be that pain in the vets side and call on Wednesday if nothing has changed. The faster he can get some more advice the better.
