Hey everyone~ just curious as to what is going on.. granted its only been a few days, but for the last 3 days Gypsy's numbers have been all over the place. Just trying to get a sense of what may be happening. Just a recap of prior info:
I took her to the vet last weekend for a BG curve with insulin. When she arrived she had a BG of about 350. Vet gave her 1 unit, but since she wouldnt eat at the vets she went down to a low of 53. They had to force feed her to get her numbers up again. When I picked her up, they said since she could hypo like she just did at the office they didnt suggest giving insulin just yet, and just had me monitor her at home with home testing and diet. They said try it for a month, and see if theres any improvement in her numbers. If there isnt, then it may be time for insulin.
I have since then been testing her twice a day, 3 if its my day off from work. I test her before I feed her am/pm, and randomly spot check during the day if I am home. So far here's what I am seeing:
5/6: 279 (pm after food 2hrs) - after vet- stressful day for her
5/7: 358 (am before food), 306 (midday after food), 262 (pm before food)
5/8: 305 (am before food), 174 (pm before food)
5/9: 105 (am before food), 285 (pm before food)
.. so what should I make of this? It feels like its possibly trending down, but there are some wierd spikes it seems. I feed fancy feast classic, 2 mini cans a day. Yes, I know I should make a spreadsheet, I will soon. Right now I've just been manually logging #s in a journal. I know its only a few days, but if anyone could provide some possible insight that would be great, thanks!
