Good Morning.

I couldnt stay up last nite to get a curve and we slept in a little this morning so I'm running late.

He's at 157 this morning. I had only given him half a dose of albuterol last night but he was croupy when we went to bed so I gave him another .1 at bedtime. Doesn't look like its making his numbers go up too bad.

I cant be home to watch him today and I dont think Id want to dose him at
this number without being home. He'll probably be high when I get home tonite but maybe his pancreas will be nice today.

Be back shortly, need to get ready for the nuthouse.

HMMM...and you gave him .4 last night!
ok can you retest in 20 or so minutes
but I am also curiuos because yesterday you were feeding him and
his numbers were going down after he ate
so I would be nervous to shoot too...
I am SO curiuos to see if he goes down though

Wow! I would not dose either.

Hope things go well at...er...the Nuthouse!
Love that reference. :-D Wonder who's the Head Nutter....there's always one...

He ate about 15 minutes ago and is at 180 now. I'm gonna leave it at that. I cant take a chance on him hypoing while im gone. He's playing and eating this morning so maybe his pancreas will kick in on its own.

I am going to give him some albuterol before I leave also.

I might be able to do that tomorrow night if he's at that level.

I had a long talk with my Mom last night and talked her in to switching all of her cats (3 of them) to wet. My dad will have to be "trained" on the correct way to feed them.

I'm also trying to get my sister to switch hers (she has 3 also). She said one of her cats is losing weight so I'm going to probably test him over the weekend for her if I get a chance.

Tammie - you're becoming a poster child for FD! It's amazing how much we've all learned in such a short time here! Kudos for the food change w/i your family. And by telling Nudderbaby's story, you never know how many kitties' lives you'll impact! One day when I was whining about not getting Grayson's ear to bleed, my co-worker of 20-some years said she had had 2 diabetic cats. Never knew it! We need to share our cats' stories w/ friends/co-workers/whoever... it's their way of "paying it forward" and hopefully saving another's life!

Initially because of practice, but now just for good measure, I poke everyone in the house from time to time... just to keep an eye on them... especially my big boys! Especially when we know we may be able to "head it off at the pass". Good luck to you!

Lu-Ann

Thanks Lu Ann. I dont want my mom to have to put her kitties down. She's going to have to start injecting herself for MS and wouldnt be able to afford a diabetic cat.

Since I finally have Heffer eating right, her coat is so soft and Nudderbaby has minimal dandruff now. When he came home from the vet Monday he was covered head to toe.

He's at 357 tonight. I gave him .4. This number is still down from last nights number so we're making a little progress.

I wish I'd known about the dandruff before the dx. I would've been able to jump on it before, as I know a couple of my cats have had dandruff... the others look great now, although nothing has changed in their worlds. It may have been a seasonal thing, but you know who gets to be my "practice kitty" when I need one! Or when I see the flakes.

It's amazing how quickly Grayson's coat started to change back to handsome. He looked like an oily teddy bear that had exploded two months ago... and he wasn't that hairy to begin with. His legs look very plush and full now - which I don't recall them being before.

Sorry to post and run earlier, I had a hair appointment.

I know he's had the dandruff for a while and I remember looking it up but dont remember ever seeing anything about diabetes.

He's down to 162 at +2. I will test him a little longer tonight to make sure he's stable before we go to bed.

wow a little more than 50% drop in 2 hours, I might feed a little
sorry I dont remmeber if you free feed or not

I put food out for them before I left and they ate nearly all of it. He tends to eat better an hour or so after his dose. I put some more out for them. They are outside playing for a few minutes but wont be out long.
