I was contacted by the rescue where I got my Diabetic cat asking for Urgent help for 1 week starting Saturday Sep 4. Unfortunately I will be away on vacation myself, so am unable to help. Can anyone in or near Toronto Foster a Diabetic cat for one week? Here is the message I got from the rescue:
They are great people, who work very hard to help cats - it would be great if someone could help. Please PM me if you can.
Thanks
Eva
Hi Eva,
Hope all is well with you. How is Flash doing?
We have a problem and were wondering if you may be able to help us or know of someone who can. We had two cats dumped in carriers one morning in front of the Petsmart store with a note they were moving and couldn't take the cats. They are both seniors 10 + 11yrs. The note said that one of the cats they suspected had recently developed Diabetes because it was loosing weight despite eating and eliminating regularly.
Well we ran blood and urine and sure enough one of the cats is a diabetic. They must of been told by their vet and didn't want the hassle of treatment. Anyways, this cat is currently in our Pickering adoption centre with 25 other cats, so it isn't the best scenario for him. It will be very difficult to get him regulated as the volunteer would not be able to routinely check on him every 12 hours to give him his insulin. She is also away on vacation next week and has someone else filling in....................is there any chance you would be able to foster him for us at least for the week she is away on vacation?
Sharon wanted to know if it was OK to contact you to get some pointers on how you got Flash into remission.
Please let me know if there is anything you can do to help us!
Thanks,
Debbie
