Our cat Larry was diagnosed with diabetes and it has been a nightmare. We changed vets and are still trying to get his bs curve. I have read that on a rare occasion a feline can be Type 1 but the vets is saying not true. We are giving 5 units of U100 Lantus twice daily and he is not dropping below 400. He has been 400 for well over a week. He has lost 9 pounds but is still happy, eating, etc. HELP!!

Hello! Welcome to the FDMB forum. The moderators prefer that new-comers to the forum make their first post on the main page because posts over there are often seen more quickly. So, if you don't mind, repost over there to get faster attention.

Also, the helpers here are going to be asking to see Larry's bg numbers and they will be asking a variety of questions related to food, etc. Are you currently testing him prior to his shots? Do you have a spreadsheet for him that shows his recent shot data? If not, that's okay, but it's something that will help others help you and Larry, so you'll want to get a spreadsheet set up. I'm going to go ahead and share this link with you that shows how to set up both a spreadsheet and how to complete your signature, all information that helps give those offering advice the best information to help you and Larry. Thread 'New? How You Can Help Us Help You!'

Yes we have spreadsheets. He has a Libre 3 sensor and we also check it manually. The vet views his numbers daily and calls to have us adjust how much insulin he is getting. He is on prescription diabetic food and eats twice a day now. Will try to post in the other area.

Go ahead and try to complete your signature and link your spreadsheet, if possible. Let us know if you have any problems.
