My Buddy was diagnosed two weeks ago with FD. On Lantus 2u. × a day. I been tracking his food and water intake.. The first week he averaged 18 oz. A day. The second week averaged 12oz. Yesterday was nearly 8oz. Two days ago was at the vet for blood test and check up. Other than his FD. All else looked ok. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks

In an unregulated diabetic cat, there are high levels of glucose in the blood. The body does its best to excrete the glucose through the urine. This process involves a lot of water being drawn into the urine, thus the cat is thirsty. As the cat is regulated and far less glucose makes its way into the urine, the cat is less thirsty.
Rejoice – less meteorite sized litter box clean ups on your part.
