Hi. First, Excuse me for not having my spreadsheet yet, it wasn't working when I pasted the link.

I'm in Canada. My cat has been on caninsulin for about 2 weeks. BG started off at 23-24 and he has neuropathy. It has steadily decreased to the point that today it was 8 in the morning and 7 after work. I did not administer any insulin. Is this normal? I am using a human meter for blood testing. Tomorrow morning we have our vet check up. I am going to discuss switching insulin to one not as strong. First I was going to with Pro Zinc, but since his numbers are lower I think Lantus would be a better option because of the "storage" aspect? Also, he will need a small amount, if any. Advice? Which is better.

Hi Kathy, I can't see your spreadsheet and the link Mogs provided shows a blank sheet with no data. :( From the numbers you have provided above, it sounds like Jack may be on the verge of remission but without being able to see the full story (readings and doses) it's impossible to say. If he is on the verge of remission, it would seem to me to be pointless to change insulins and might even set you back while you figure out doses and how Jack is reacting to the new insulin. As for a decision between ProZinc and Lantus, that's a tough one. Both are good insulins for cats but they work differently. In the big scheme of things if Jack is that close to remission, I'd personally be reluctant to start changing the steps to his dance!
