Noodle's numbers high and flat--what should I do?

Noodle has been on Lantus about 10 days with minor dose adjustments (please see SS.) What's puzzling me is that his numbers looked better, mostly, on a lower dose. At the lower dose he was showing trace ketones a few times. I told the vet and he said not to worry if he acted fine; that the ketones would take care of themselves if the insulin got regulated. He's shown no ketones for the past two days but his BG numbers are higher. I am so confused--this makes absolutely no sense to me. And his nadir is almost as high as the rest of his numbers. I will be running a full curve tomorrow. Can anyone help me? Thanks!

Hi BJM,
I'm following the Start Low, Go Slow protocol even though it is a little slower than my vet is wanting. I guess I just plain don't understand Noodle's numbers and hope every day I'll see a pattern. BTW what does "relaxed lantus" mean (the forum?) Thanks for your link.

The Relaxed Lantus forum is where folks who aren't following the Tight Regulation forum tend to post. There are numerous reasons TR may not be optimal for the bean or the cat - erratic response, crazy achedules, cost of frequent testing, modifying the 2 protocols to optimize results for the cat (some cats just don't follow the rules!) etc.

I posted there when helping Dusty, who was adopted from a rescue where I sometimes volunteer to transport. The adoptor had diabetes and arthritis and wasn't able to see to test. I went over a few times to test him, run a curve, check on feeding, make sure sure understood the dose, and so on. Dusty went OTJ in about 5 weeks time.
