ADW is out of terumos. Can't even get the 30g either. Thanks to a lovely moment of idiocy by my dh, I've got 2 weeks left of syringes. Then he, the normal doser and injector, is out of town for 5 days. So I need to switch brands I guess. :( We switched to terumos when he was freaking out at injection time. He quit with terumos.

I need suggestions for good alternatives. And how I go about figuring out the inconsistencies. We were starting to see some nice progress this week. Oh well.

If I stick to similar prices on ADW it looks like my choices are Ulticare, Monoject, or Surecomfort. Any thoughts?

There has been an ongoing thread in Lantus/Lev ISG on this for a while, but for the life of me I can't find it right now.

I have always used the Monoject. I've tried BD and Teremos when the shelter bought them and went back to buying my own Monoject to use.

I've used Monojects but switched to the Terumos because they seemed to slide a lot smoother. It can be harder to get a consistent does with the Monojects due to the cone at the end of the syringe also.

This cone problem has me worried about the monojects. Now I'm looking at the bds even though they cost more.

With BDs, you need to use caliper dosing or similar if you want accuracy at low dose levels because the plunger often goes past the zero line on the syringe. In our experience, the BDs are no better than the Relion in quality and a lot more expensive. We also used the Teromos, but found them more prone to collect air bubbles on the syringe wall that were hard to get out.

Here's my post, which was referenced in this thread, regarding the Demise of the Terumos. I did find out from ADW last week that they are completely out of the 0.3cc U100 Terumo syringes. No more coming in.

Here is some info about Monoject Syringes that you might want to read.

Having stockpiled Terumos like I stockpile test strips, I haven't yet had the need to decide which syringe we will switch to but most likely BD because I haven't been impressed with Ulitcare or Sure Comfort in the past.
