Hi all,

Over the past while, we've slowly gotten Dundee's blood sugar under control to the point where it would appear (touch wood!) that he is in remission. He has not needed insulin for more than two weeks now! :-D

I have a question though.. Over the past couple of days, his pre-meal blood sugar has been down to values in the 80's and this morning it was down to 76! As well, 4 hours after eating last night, his blood sugar was only in the 90s. I realize it's still at the low end of normal, but it freaks me out a bit because his blood sugar has never been so low before. Without any insulin being given to him, could it ever be possible for him to become hypoglycemic? The only other health issue he has right now, to our knowledge (and he had routine bloodwork done recently) is that he's got some teeth that need removing. He's 18 years old. Thanks for any advice or reassurance!

He seems very normal! Most cats in remission run from 40 to 120, with the majority of the time in double digits. Many cats are continually in the 50-70 range. I wouldn't worry. He is doing fine. congrats!

Phew! What a relief, thanks! Last night I could hardly sleep, wondering if he was going to crash for some strange reason!

Yep he's just purrfect from someone that has actually run a curve on her civies and just tested one of her civies recently got one here that runs all the time in the 40's while most are in the 50-60 range including my guy that has been in remission for over 4 years. :-D
