Nicky - Dose Advice, again

Hello Everyone,

Well Nicky's glucose is slowly going down which is good, but this is new territory for me. My doses have been all over the place. Please take a look at his spreadsheet. Do you think I should stick with 1U if his pre shots are in the yellow? Should I also stay at 1U if they are in the low pinks or increase to 1.2?

Also I am curious, how you dose the micro doses (.1 and .15U)?

Thank you all for your valuable help.

He is looking good, Luann! As long as you are around to watch those greens at nadir and give him a little food if he drops below 50, I'd stick with the one unit. On any cycle you know you can't monitor, be a little more cautious?

My thinking is that the longer he stays in the lower ranges, the better. If you start getting pre shots too low to shoot and nadirs too low, then reduce.

To give the small doses, you can either do drops or use U100 needles and the conversion chart. To give drops, draw up 0.5 (or whatever amount you can easily measure) of colored water. Let out drops, counting. As soon as you figure out how many drops are in that dose, record it. Then when you want to give two drops, draw up that amount and let it out, saving two drops.

If you want to use U100s, be sure to get the ones that measure 1/2 units. You can get them at Walmart or any drug store. Here is the conversion chart:

Hello Ladies,

Well Nicky's curve has seemed to be quite flat over the last 2 or 3 cycles. While I am happy with yellow, I want the blues back. Do you think I should go up to 1.2U. Or should I be patient?

How about sliding the scale, Nicky? 1.2 at 220+ and one unit under that? You have shot at some pre shots under 200 and he has given you safe numbers so I think you can safely shoot 180+. Assuming, of course, that he doesn't throw us a loop!

Thanks Sue, yep, that is what I am going to do. I guess I have been sort of using a sliding scale all along. i was trying to get to a point where I could stick with the same dose for awhile. And, Nicky is always throwing me for a loop.

BY the way, I have finally put a picture of Nicky in my Avatar. I am a bad mama in that it took me so long. I hope you can see it.
