Hi, Our much loved Domestic longhaired cat, "Baby" -

Now has glucose in her blood sugar per our newly bought glucose strips. Her internal med doc says test daily for 3 weeks then begin insulin if warranted. Her fructosamide test shows 367 umol/L (if this is correct measure).

We notice that her urine volume, high with the 100 ml of Lactated Ringers we give her for kidney disease, has decreased. Should we concern ourselves with the urine decrease or keep focusing on the glucose?

So much to learn.

Thank you for the forum.

you will get lots of advice here, everyone is happy and eager to help, and many of the members here have been dealing with diabetic cats for YEARS

first question -- what have you been feeding her? that's the first step in figuring out how to deal with a diabetes diagnosis and where to go from here

If that was her fructosamine number and not her blood glucose number, she may not be diabetic or just barely starting.

The fructosamine is measure different from the blood glucose. The scale is different.

Thank you so much. We are trying to get off Fancy Feast and sadly the first foray into higher end foods (PetExpress offerings) were not taken well.
