I'm new to this forum. It was recommended to me by a very good friend. I am hoping to find someone in NE Oklahoma that can help the Grove, OK humane society shelter with a cat that was just recently diagnosed with diabetes.

Anyone with or caring for a diabetic cat is welcome to join us. Encourage someone at the shelter to do so.

The shelter can save money by feeding feeding low carb, over the counter, canned or raw food. Veterinarian Dr Lisa Pierson explains why at her web site Cat Info. Most of the Friskies pates are less than 10% calories from carbohydrates, as are the Fancy Feast Classic pates. Also, the low carb diet may reduce glucose roughly 100 mg/dL.

We have a geographic list linked to this post here.

DCIN (Diabetic Cats in Need) has a Facebook group for shelter diabetic cats. https://www.facebook.com/DCINShelterCats

The mission of DCIN’s Shelter Program is to assist animal shelters and rescues that have diabetic cats in residence or in foster care with cross-posting those cats to generate public interest, educational resources, and diabetic supplies needed to keep the cats stable and healthy while under the care of the shelter or rescue.
