Hi there. My cat, Zeke, just got diagnosed with diabetes. I have an additional appointment with the vet on Thursday and she wants to take a urine sample.
I also have two other cats who are not diabetic. Any suggestions for how to manage feeding?

Welcome! This site has so much information that will help you help Zeke. As you explore, you'll find we like wet low carb food (see this website by a vet: http://www.catinfo.org), a long lasting mild insulin like Lantus, Levemir or ProZinc and we test our cat's blood glucose levels at home. (stress raises levels and most cats are very stressed at the vet). Wet low carb food is best for all cats if you can get all your cats to eat it. Friskies pates are an inexpensive, low carb choice.

Did your vet do a fructosamine test or just a blood sample? Is the urine sample because Zeke might have a UTI?

You can feed them all the same, over the counter, low carb canned or raw food. Friskies pates are all acceptable.
