Hi,
About 3 weeks ago I adopted a rescue ocicat who had been in a hoarder situation with 400 other cats. She is about 1.5 years old, (now blind because of the awful coditions) 6 lbs and drinks tons of water. We took her to vet since she has been urinating out side of the litter box in large amounts, had a cold and an ear infection. We've changed the litter and bought another box so she has just recently been using the box. We also administer medicine for her other two conditions. The Dr. performed a urine test and noted she does not have a UTI. The Dr. wants to perform a blood test which we will do in four days.
It is a 3pm appointment, how long does she have to fast? I am worried she will be diagnosed with diabetes, what would be the best food to feed her until I receive the results? I am mentally perparing myself incase she is diagnosed...does anyone have a skittish cat that they have been able to sucessfully administer insulin to? Since she is newly blind and was in such a stressful condition she is skittish at times which makes applying ear drops a real challenge. I fear insulin will be even more difficult. Thank you for any help / information. I hope that whatever our girl has we can work out through her diet since she is so young...not sure though.
