Newbie - What test results are ideal?

I'm still trying to figure out where to find what on this site.

When I test with a human meter, what are the test values I'm looking for and how do I know how much to adjust the insulin based on the results I do get?

I know what are ideal test values in a human, I know what the vet said are good results on a feline calibrated meter, but what am I looking for with a human meter for my cat? And if what I get on the human meter is high (she's been in the 300+ range, which I know is too high), how do I know how much more insulin to give her without giving her too much? And once I adjust her insulin, how long do I leave her at that level till it's safe to adjust again if she's still running high?

We have a couple of dosing methods here that we use with Lantus or the generic versions. Described in this note:
Dosing Methods: Start Low, Go Slow (SLGS) & Tight Regulation (TR)

Depending which dosing method you'd like to follow, the "ideal range" of blood sugar numbers varies. Since your kitty is on a higher carb prescription urinary diet, that means following the Start Low Go Slow Method for dosing. With that method, the idea nadirs, or low points of the cycle are in the 90-149 range. Since she's in the 300's, you'd likely need to increase, but we'd have to look at a spreadsheet of data to make sure you are getting enough data for it to be safe to increase.
