Newbie - Should I Increase Annie's Insulin?? Is it time??

Hi,
I was just wondering if we should increase Annie's shots from 0.75 units of Lantus twice a day to 1.00 units of Lantus twice a day??? She is doing fine, she is eating alot of fance feast fish andd shrimp and wellness chicken. She get NO HARD FOOD at all. I have been spot checking her ketasosis and it is normal. We are planning on doing more spot checks today as we are home for the weekend. Any suggestions???

Hi Judy,
It looks like there could be more room for an increase but without more data it is hard to say. If you cannot get them during the day due to work etc., is there any way you could get more at night. Most cats go lower during the night so without those checks it is hard to say.

Let see if you can get more input from others.

I agree with Miriam. You need more spot checks during the cycle in order to make any changes in dose. This is pretty much the same input you got a couple of weeks ago. Lantus dosing is based on the lowest point of the cycle, not on the pre-shot numbers.

have to agree with Sienne and Miriam.
I too work during the day, but when I'm home I gather as much as I can in the evenings and days off.
My kitty tends to go lower at nite, you may of heard that before, some kitties do, at least a bedtime check - would be a good start!
As well as your ability to monitor plays a big part, so if increasing the dose - can you monitor with spotchecks to see how each dose is working for Annie?

See what your spotchecks this weekend show and check back with your results, keep in mind one day's worth may not be enough as numbers can fluctuate from cycle to cycle, day to day.
