Bronx's dad (GA)

Member Since 2016
Hello all, I am a newbie here. My 10yr old "Bronx" was diagnosed with diabetes about a month ago and vet put him on 1.5 of Lantus 2x/day 7a & 7p (with meal). I decided to start doing the BS monitoring using a Relion and discovered that he is still at 400-500 every morning pre-shot and gets only as low at the high 300s throughout the day. Vet told me to stop giving Bronx food before bed since that will cause the morning spike and only food with insulin 7a & 7p. All food has been switched to low carb and no dry at all. He is always hungry and cries by the bowl, almost eating 2 5oz cans at each feeding and he is still losing weight. I tested him this morn after no pre-bed meal as the vet suggested and reading was 524 this morning pre-shot! I upped the Lantus to 2 units. This is killing me, what should I do?

Welcome. Great that you are home testing. Come on over and read the yellow stickies in the Lantus forum (the information can be overwhelming but it's a quick learning curve) and post any and all your questions.
