Hello and welcome to Lantus Land!

What flavours of Friskies are you feeding? Some of them are too high carb .Check out the list here and make sure yours are under 10% carbs http://www.catinfo.org/docs/Food Chart Public 9-22-12.pdf The low carb ones are usually the classic pates.

Also not sure what the carbs are in those treats? If you know for sure they are under 10% then feel free ... but otherwise here is a list of good treats http://felinediabetes.com/FDMB/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=9172. Lots of people here use the freeze dried chicken which is popular!

Thanks Wendy, I got help from my friend Cindy for the food and treats. All low carb. Sometimes she might accidentally sneak a little of the dry food from our other cat, but not often and not very much.

Welcome Janet and Callie :-D

Would you be able to get some more tests in the PM cycle?
Callie could be going lower at night and then bouncing during the day KWIM?

Good! You moved over here.

Here is a link to the thread on the "relaxed" board
viewtopic.php?f=32&t=87358

For everyone: I think these "My Little Lion" treats are diabetic friendly. Grain free, with meat as the main ingredient. I think they are fairly new, and I haven't checked the food charts to see if anyone has obtained the as fed values. Petsmart sells them - check them out. My cats all love them.

When I first went over to their house for testing 101, I brought a few cans of Friskies and FF pates, and the MLL treats and the freeze dried chicken treats. Callie was not at all interested in the freeze dried, but loved everything else.

Janet/M. - How long before the 9 AM PS do y'all wake up? Maybe you could start with a late-cycle test earlier in the morning? I am also of the opinion that it's time for a dose increase to 1.75. However, why don't you start it tomorrow morning, so you can get some spot checks. And I agree you should mix it up, so that over a period of several days you get a picture of the whole cycle.

By the way, Tritone had her last dental at age 15 (she died at 16 from kidney failure), and Gracie, who is now 20.5 YO, had her last dental at age 17.

I said this in my post on Relaxed: I'd like to see some PM tests before raising the dose. While I strongly suspect a dose increase is needed, the reds and blacks may be due to bounces. If you notice the yellow numbers yesterday, Callie shoots right into the over 400 range directly after. If you can get a test or two tonight, that will give us more of a sense of whether this is bouncing.

I think you're right about the My Little Lion treats. My sister came across them and I think they are pretty much all protein.

Haha Cindy we wouldn't get up by 9 if it weren't to do her stuff. That's part of the reason we have it so late, also because we often work late so sometimes we can't do it until 10 or 11 or 12 at night.

I think it was Emmy and Dude who first alerted me to the MLL treats.

I know it's really hard to coordinate this with our schedules. (We are all musicians, FYI).

I wake up naturally early, so it was a little easier, but I used to do 5 AM and 5PM (You can always go back to bed after the AMPS). That way, the PMPS came just before I had to leave for many gigs (there are always days where nothing works), and much more of the evening cycle is during waking hours. If it was a teaching day, I just arranged to have a little gap at 5 p.m.

When I really had to be gone all day, I would pay my petsitter to come feed and shoot (never did get her to learn to test) If you guys have any neighbors that you could teach to test, that you exchange favors with, that may be a way to go, or better yet, maybe there's even someone from the board who lives near you...do we still have that member map?

Interesting, Blue. That's the same product, all right, but here they are called My LITTLE Lion. So what I want to know is: What marketing research moron decided that Canadian cats are mighty, and American cats are little?

I see a looming international crisis...

Either way, they are great treats for diabetics, and I haven't seen them anywhere (including on line) except at Petsmart. They are $2.99/bag, but are usually on sale with your petperks card.

Haha@Blue - Way to avert an international incident!

Good job getting some numbers overnight! Have a look, everyone. Should she raise the dose?
And Janet, I think the deal is to start a thread each morning and keep adding to it (am I right?), so when you get your AMPS start a new thread.
