Newb with lots of questions

I think I'm going to go 1u and all wet.
One quick question though.
She has been a dry eater all her life. Will switching to all wet cause any um, bathroom problems? Poor thing just went through all that with the switch to the w/d. I would hate for her to have to go through that again so soon. Her little butt has to be sore!....lol

just droppin by to say...awwww, what a pretty kitty.
will be following your progress in the future...on pzi i guess, right?

Oh I think I misunderstood and she didn't eat since shot time. Well I'm not sure why she is higher then at +6 but I wouldn't worry about it too much since hopefully we won't ever see this dose again  and hopefully soon you will be able to make a food switch & drop the dose down.

It's usually better to transition the food over several days - starting like you did tonight with a little bit, then gradually increase after a day or two. If you go too fast, yes, liquipoo :? is often the results. It will be a major change too in fiber levels, and I'm not sure how that might affect things. I would lean towards transitioning on the slow side, maybe over a week or so. Of course I tried to do that with my kitty but as soon as he caught on that the canned was tasty, he wouldn't touch the dry, so he transitioned in like 2 days (after months of being unwilling to even try canned, go figure).

If you end up doing a partial food switch be sure to change the dose as well - no 8u or anything if she is only eating 1/2 the amount of dry she has been. Cut the dose at least in half, and I think it will be easier if you go the 1u route, though that may be too little insulin, but it's just an unknown right now. Hopefully some others will chime in with their thoughts on it. You may want to start a new thread tomorrow with any questions you have, or asking for suggestions on the best way to transition.

I have to sign off but just wanted to say congrats on getting through the scary part. Glad everything went smoothly and no crisis. Please continue to post your questions and keep us updated! :-D

No. She ate dinner. I may be doing this wrong, but my vet has me give her a little snack about 30 min. before shot time, which is usually about a tablespoon ful of tuna. Really. About a tablespoon. Just a bite or two. She gets her shot at 6:30 and then her food is served at 7 a/pm. Tonight, however, I gave her a little dish of wet ALONG with the dry. She ate some of each. She had a couple bites of the wet twice, and she ate her dry once that I seen but could have been twice. The lst time I seen her at was around 9:30 or so. She's been laying on the couch since then, so that's been it.
