any suggestions on my six year old, Abby.? She has 2 units a day, and readings are 275-300, except about twice a week go low, around 60. Do you skip injection when low, and then when do you give it again!? Thanks!

Hi, and welcome! It's great that you found this forum. What kind of insulin is Abby on? What does she eat? And how long has she been diabetic?

Here's the link to her Introduction thread: http://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/threads/new-with-questions.183355/ It looks like she's using Vetsulin and feeding Fancy Feast Classics.
When you say about twice a week you get numbers in around 60, is that at the pre-shot test or hours later around mid-cycle? If it's the pre-shot test, then I would skip the dose as I have heard that Vetsulin is a pretty harsh insulin and they can down quickly. I may be wrong, as I have never used Vetsulin.
You might want to add "Vetsulin Advice on Dosing" to your first Subject Line of this post to get more specific attention.
Cats often go lower at night, just like humans do. Are you getting mid-cycle tests, like any in the middle of the night?

thanks and I will add "Vetsulin Advice on Dosing". It is normally before first shot and I am getting readings during twelve hours but not anymore. Thank you so much

If you're getting a60 for a preshot your dose is too high! Try to do a curve next time your home and try to get readings 4-6 hours after injection so we can see how low she goes mid cycle.

Did you lower the dose?
I lowered to 1.5 and these are the following numbers on Labor Day:

It will really help us to help you if you'll start charting your numbers on our spreadsheet

We're really very dependent on it....the color coding helps us to see certain patterns we might not see otherwise.

Here are the Instructions on getting the FDMB spreadsheet http://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/threads/fdmb-spreadsheet-instructions.130337/

If you have any problems setting it up, please feel free to send me a private message by clicking on my name and choosing "start conversation"....it only takes me about 30 seconds once I have some information from you so it's no trouble!!
