I'm a new user on this site. WOnderful information here and I really appreciate having this resource!! I have a newly diagnosed diabetic 11 year old male, Nonnie. It slipped up on us as we were pre-occupied with 2 of our other 17 cats that have been sick. He ended up at ER with pancreatitis and ketoacidosis. I felt so bad that we didn't recognize it sooner having had diabetic cats in the past. We used to use PZI but when we brought him home yesterday, the Dr. started us on Lantus because my usual vet indicated Prozinc is not always readily available these days. The problem with Lantus is that it's so hard to be accurate when trying to pull up 1.5 u in a 30 u needle. I did find 1/2 unit increments at Walmart so that will help. But I think I need to monitor him. Has anyone ever known of any other needles that would be more accurate for low dose? Thanks!
