Hi all!
I'm Ramona from Canada. Happy to be here! My almost 15 year old Sapphire was diagnosed on Oct 17 and went on caninsulin the next day. We switched to lantus on Oct 25th.
Sapphire also was diagnosed with CKD at the end of March 2025 and values showed stage 2, beginning of stage 3. Oct bloodwork showed not much of a change. She gets subcutaneous fluids on a daily basis. She has a grade 3 heart murmur and needs dental work. However, anesthesia is a concern with the heart so I am considering an echocardiogram to further investigate. Was also mentioned that anesthesia may be a concern for her kidneys. She likely also has arthritis. Since the kidney diagnosis she has had 2 UTI's.
I have set up a SS for Sapphire but not sure if I share it here or in another post. I am feeling anxious about this journey but despite her health challenges, Sapphire is being cooperative with testing and is a trooper. I just want to do the best I can for her. And am grateful in advance for any advice and support
