Ezra's Place

Member Since 2023
Hi, I am a best friend to a Maine Coon named Ezra. Ezra adopted us over a decade ago after his owners moved away and abandoned him. He was running the neighborhood and kindly being fed by everyone yet no one took him in. After he left me the "present" of a bird wing in the garage, my husband and I formally took him in. He is wicked smart, a conversationalist and and loves playing with water. He is the most affectionate cat I've ever had.

This is Ezra's third episode of diabetes. When he had it twice before, we were able to get him into remission. Having a harder time this go around because he is older, 10+ years old. Per vet, we are feeding him 300 calories per day and giving him Lantus, 1 Unit twice per day. He is rail thin but otherwise, all his behaviors are the same - both good a questionable. :) He is sporting a Libre 3 and so we had to buy our first smartphone to read the sensors and t-shirts to cover it. Mind you, neither my husband or I own a smartphone. LOL!

I look forward to being an active member of the forum.

Hi and welcome and thank you for taking him in!

adopted cats have a special place in my heart :bighug:

can you tell us what food you’re feeding and what’s his weight? 300 calories a day makes me think he’s about 15 pounds?

it would be great if you could set up a spreadsheet and add the Libre readings to it so we can help with dosage. Here is a link helping us to help you link. If you noticed, our members have some basic information about their cat's in their signature. This helps us to not pester you by asking the same questions (your cat's name, insulin type, date of diagnosis, etc.) repeatedly. We also have a link to our spreadsheet in our signature. We are very numbers driven. The spreadsheet is a record of your cat's progress. By linking it in your signature, we can follow along and provide feedback should you need the help.

Welcome to the best group you could find
Just wanted to add if you have trouble setting up our spreadsheet just ask, we have a member who will be glad to do it for you :cat:

Hi and welcome to the forum.
I’m looking forward to seeing some data from the Libre on your spreadsheet, so we can help you with dosing.
