Hi, i just created my spreadsheet. i have looked at these threads for a while and it's super helpful. I'm trying my best - it's been a gigantic learning curve and lots of research. My cat eats Dr. Elseys and some wet food - fancy feast pates and some wellness pates. I have done some Tiki cat which she likes but don't want to give her too much fish so I try not to give it often. I went on vacation for the first time in about 4 years and left her with my mom and I'm very worried about her numbers. She seems to dive around 11 am and bounce back up by 3 pm. Can someone lend some guidance? Please let me know if you need additional information or if I have improperly done the spreadsheet. Thanks in advance, my diabetics cat name is Bella and she is a 13 year old Calico. Diagnosed weight dropped to 7.13 oz from her normal weight of approx 10 pds, she's gained most of her weight back by now.

Hi and Welcome to the FDMB!!

The best advice I can give you for now is to increase your testing. Right now, with all the missing data, it's impossible to have any idea about what might be going on. I totally understand you have been away and Mom was taking over (and even that can cause wonky numbers because no matter how well Bella might know your mom, any change in routine can cause wonky numbers because they may not eat as much, they may be more stressed out wondering what happened to their usual caregiver, etc.)

I'd continue with the 1U dose and start getting AMPS numbers, at least 1 mid-cycle test on the AM cycle (if possible...more if you can) and PMPS numbers with at least 1 "before bed" test on the PM cycle. Most cats go lower at night so it's important to get that test in so you'll know if it's safe for you to snooze the rest of the night or if you should set an alarm to test later in the cycle.

If you can test during the AM cycle, try to get tests at different points in the cycle. Like one day get AMPS, +3, +6, +9 and another day get AMPS, +2, +5, +8. Think of the spreadsheet like it's a puzzle. The more pieces (tests) you can sprinkle around, the easier it is to know what the puzzle picture is.

If you post daily (or even every other day) you'll be able to get advice on how experienced members think Bella is doing and offer suggestions that may explain some of the craziness that's going on.

Okay I am going to try and do a curve tomorrow and get a AMPS and then one every 2 hours for the AM cycle. I will try for a couple PM cycle ones as well maybe tomorrow or the day after depending how the testing goes during the day. Thanks for your reply!
