? New to Lantus need help!

I finally received my Lantus in the mail. Is there a way to see if it was frozen during delivery? The part where the insulin is stored is covered.
I called the Canadian pharmacy... waiting for a call back.
How do I use a syringe with the solorstar pen? Could someone post a video? I’m going to be drawing up .25 unit. Help!!!
Once I use the pen.. can I put it back
I’m the fridge or do I keep it out? My cat will be on very a very small dosage.

I answered on your other thread. I think it's best to store the pen in the fridge even though human diabetics carry them around with them. I believe that if you're using the pen needles instead of proper insulin syringes the pen has to be at room temp. for the needle mechanism to work properly. I don't have experience with these so I might be wrong.

Hi Janet,

Glad the Lantus has arrived and keeping everything crossed it's OK after transit.

My vet's advice was to store Lantus in the body of the fridge, not the door (less prone to temperature fluctuations). I've not used the pens but there are lots of very helpful stickies about Lantus here:

You use the pen as it was a mini vial you just stick the syringe into it and draw the insulin out, to measure de 0.25 units you could either eyeball the amount, get te plunger between the 0 and de 0.5 mark on the syringe, as long as you are consistent with the dose every time you measure it you will be ok or actually measure it with some caliphers

Most of the people put it back on the fridge and that way it would last a lot longer and you can use all of the pen's content, this is important since you'll be using a very small amount because you can leave Lantus outside the fridge but then according with the manufacturer it will only be good for 28 days so you'll need to dispose of whatever is left
