New to Lantus: 12/26 Cali PMPS 318

Just switched from ProZinc to Lantus today. While we were away, Cali was unable to get any shots (she doesn't take any treatment from anyone other than my husband or I), so she is sort of starting fresh.

Just took her blood test and she was 318. We gave her her first dose of 1 unit. Only time will tell--fingers crossed!!

There is a great deal of information in the starred sticky notes at the top of the board about how to get started using Lantus and how to get the most from your experience here on the Lantus Board. The amount of information can be daunting but there are a lot of people here to lend you a hand and offer support.

The approach to using Lantus is different than with PZI. Lantus dosing is based on the nadir -- not on the pre-shot number. It also means that getting at least one spot check during the AM and PM cycles is important. Lantus also has greater duration which allows for overlap between the doses.

I hope you'll post often. Please ask questions. We'll do our best to help you and Cali.
