Hi everyone!
I just wanted to post as Nico was diagnosed with FLUTD today. I knew he was off but couldn't put my finger on it at first. I was a little freaked because his glucose went into the 300's and it's been a while since he's been that high.
I wanted to see what the experience has been for others; did glucose shoot up with a flair up? How long did it take them to recover? I'm hoping it will subside soon, poor guy doesn't want his regular food yet. But he has eaten quite a few lickable treats! Lol (like, a lot)
Thanks for any insight!

My Sheba used to get flare ups of FLUTD every so often.
They usually lasted a few days and the BGs would usually go up a bit with the flares then subside.
Stress is often a trigger so try and remove any stress. I used a feliway collar which I found was good. Others use the diffuser.
Extra fluids helped and I gave a course of cartrophen which is good for the bladder wall (this is in Australia) I think in the US and Canada they give Adequan
I also used...I've had a mental block and can't think of the name of it:rolleyes: ...I'll post the name when it comes to me.
Some use antispasmodic meds to help spasms., and pain meds.
Cerenia is also an anti inflammatory.
Try and maintain the food levels, poor guy probably needs some pain meds and some cerenia

Thanks so much! Yeah, he definitely got some Cerenia last night, as well as a little bit of Mirtaz. He did get an anti-inflammatory shot, but I also gave him some corn silk around midnight. He's feeling MUCH better today. I appreciate the suggestions on medicine, I'll look to see if I can get some adequan!!

The adequacy is an injection which is given every few weeks for a month then monthly for a time…..that’s what my vet did.
I remember the name of the other med I got. It was called cosequin.
